I enjoy using paper taken from old books in my jewellery to create pieces. At first I did this fairly randomly but as I made more and found that buyers liked to know about the books I used I started to "theme" pieces around a particular book. As well as some generic designs which I make in all the books I have copies of - small rose studs, fans and leaves, there are also designs and design variants specific to each book.
I also make rose crowns for brides looking for something different with or without tiara twists finished with artificial pearls from vintage necklaces.
The Great Gatsby
I use paper from this iconic novel of the Jazz Age for my Art Deco themed designs. This collection includes pieces where I play with a pleated fan shape to create earrings and a necklace. I will be adding more designs soon.
Pride and Prejudice
This is one of the most famous love stories of all time and much loved by those who enjot reading and re-reading the book itself as well as those who know it from one of the many screen adaptaions be they for the small or big screen which lead to discussions as to who made the best Darcy, Laurence Olivier, Colin Firth or one of the others. My range of jewellery in this themed around romance with roses playing the lead along with fans. Within this range you can find earrings, pendants and brooches.
Alice's Adventures in Wonderland
This and it's sequel, Alice Through the Looking Glass are also well loved by many generations both as book and as film and there have been many film, TV and stage adaptations which often seem to reimagine Alice for the times in which they are made.
I am still working on designs for this collection but so far it includes roses, fans and flamingos made into earrings and pendants.
This is perfect not just for fans of the book, but also as gifts for Mother's Day especially as the rectangular pendant features the word "Mother" or "Marmee".
This is the one for all lovers of the Gothic as well as for horror fans. The range includes chokers and earrings on a black setting.
Another classic novel and one that mixes together the romance and Gothic genres.
One for all fantasy lovers.
If sci-fi or steampunk's your thing then this is for you.
The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe
One of the classic children's books and also a much loved Christian allegory of the resurrection although it is often linked to Christmas, it also resonates with the meaning of Easter.
A Christmas Carol
Charles Dickens is often credited with inventing Christmas - or more accurately how we celebrate with decorations and gifts. These designs are perfect for stocking fillers or Secret Santa gifts.
